Innovations for more enjoyment – Our review of a successful project
Innovations have changed people's lives, especially when they offer developments and solutions to limiting problems. With our Landtmann's Patisserie, we specialized in the production of cakes for people with dysphagia as early as 2023. We drew on our knowledge and experience while simultaneously engaging with those affected, their families, and experts to further advance our innovation processes.
A look back: The development of “Marvella”
In the first phase of our project, we focused on developing cakes for people with dysphagia that were in no way inferior to "normal" cakes in terms of appearance and taste. Our goal was to leverage our pastry expertise and experience in developing extra-fine cakes, as well as valuable feedback from those affected and experts. Thanks to this interdisciplinary approach, we were finally able to present our high-quality cakes called "Marvella" – a product that not only meets the specific needs of people with dysphagia, but also meets the highest standards of taste and appearance. Because we believe that enjoyment and quality should be accessible to everyone.
Collaboration with lead users
A key part of our innovation process was the close collaboration with patients, caregivers, and experts. Using the lead-user method, we were able to develop new ideas and concepts precisely tailored to the needs of people with dysphagia. Not only did feedback from patients and relatives play a key role, but so did the expertise of physicians, speech therapists, and dieticians.
To foster this collaboration, we used questionnaires, individual interviews, and roundtable discussions. This exchange enabled us to jointly develop new approaches to solutions and receive valuable first-hand feedback.
Our Lead User Conference – A special highlight
A significant milestone in our project was the two-day lead user conference, where experts and stakeholders came together to develop innovative solutions and optimization concepts. This event impressively demonstrated the importance of interdisciplinary exchange in creating sustainable innovations.
Our conclusion
By involving lead users and experts, we were able to ensure that the needs of people with dysphagia were comprehensively considered. Our interdisciplinary approach has not only enabled us to develop high-quality products but also contribute to destigmatizing dysphagia in our society.
